More than thirty years in the insurance/reinsurance industry, including
thirteen years as a company president and CEO/COO, and more than a
decade in other management positions.
In addition to the management and direction of several reinsurance
enterprises, Mr. Johnson has led or participated in several start ups and
acquisitions, including the use of venture capital. He also led the very
successful turnaround of a troubled reinsurance company - Signet Star
Re (now known as Berkley Re America). He was CEO of Signet Star Re
(a subsidiary of the W. R. Berkley Corporation) from 2001 through 2008.
He has also led or participated in the due diligence evaluation of many
unrelated property and casualty insurance companies during his thirty
year reinsurance career.
Other experience includes participation on an advisory board for an
investment bank, working with investment bankers and private equity
firms related to the evaluation of opportunities for start ups and mergers
and acquisitions.
Mr. Johnson is an emphatic advocate of understanding and exploiting
the macro business cycle. Good macro cycle timing enhances business
